Middle school students in Greenville County can explore fun learning opportunities at Greenville Technical College this summer. Camps in the areas of culinary, vet care, 3D printing, robotics, automotive and more will allow rising 6th through 8th graders to experience hands-on learning taught by leaders in the field.

Basic Cooking & Baking Combo Week
4-day session, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. - Noon or 1 - 5 p.m.

This camp is designed to provide young culinary enthusiasts with a comprehensive introduction to the art of cooking and baking. Through a series of hands-on activities, demonstrations, and expert guidance, participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills that will set them on a path to becoming proficient in the kitchen.
Throughout the camp, students will explore the fundamental techniques and principles of cooking and baking, including ingredient selection, food preparation, recipe reading, and proper cooking methods. With an emphasis on safety and hygiene, participants will learn how to handle kitchen tools and equipment responsibly, ensuring a secure and enjoyable cooking environment. Camp topics include: Flavoring with Herbs and Spices, Knife Skills and Soups, Cookies and Cupcakes, Pizza & Pretzels.
By the end of camp, participants will have gained confidence in the kitchen and developed a passion for culinary arts. They will leave with a collection of recipes and memories of a fun-filled and educational summer camp experience.
Mastering Cooking Week

In this camp, aspiring young chefs will embark on a culinary journey filled with creativity, skill-building, and the joy of cooking! Mastering Cooking is carefully crafted to provide a structured learning experience that caters to participants of all skill levels. From beginners seeking to develop a solid foundation in cooking to more experienced young chefs looking to refine their techniques, this camp offers a supportive and challenging environment for growth.
Campers will have the opportunity to work with a diverse array of ingredients, honing their knife skills, mastering cooking techniques, and experimenting with flavors and textures. They will learn about the importance of food safety and hygiene. Topics include: Basic Sauces and Roast Chicken, Experimenting with Vegetables, Grill Masters, and Perfect Pasta Dishes

Mastering Baking Week

From mastering the perfect pastry to creating mouthwatering breads, chocolates, and candies, campers will learn the secrets to achieving professional-level results. Through a combination of demonstrations, hands-on practice, and group projects, participants will develop the skills and confidence necessary to become true baking masters.
In addition to honing their baking techniques, campers will also learn about the importance of kitchen safety, proper ingredient measurements, and the science behind baking. They will gain a solid foundation in understanding the role of different ingredients, such as flour, sugar, eggs, and leavening agents, and how they interact to create the desired textures and flavors. Topics include: Biscuits/Muffins/Cornbread, Chocolates & Candies, Danish Pastry, Rolls/Breads/Braids

Global Gastronomy Part I

Global Gastronomy Part II

Learn the basics of robots and their growing role in Greenville County. Campers will electronically control and troubleshoot robots as well as work on safe and simply electronic projects that they can take home.
3D Printing
4-day session, Monday-Thursday, 1 - 5 p.m.
Location: Center for Manufacturing Innovation
Dates: June 17-20, July 15-18
Cost: $169
Campers will use computer aided design to bring concepts to life while learning about additive manufacturing. They will design, print and assemble their projects and see a variety of 3D printers to execute their designs. Students come home with their projects.
4-day session, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. - noon
Location: McKinney Center
Dates: June 24-27, July 22-25
Cost: $169
During this camp, students will learn the basics of automotive maintenance and repair including checking fluids, jump-starting, and basic maintenance. They will also learn vehicle components and operations. In addition, each student will receive and build a small model car learning the different car body parts, assembling processes and how paint is applied.

Junior Vet Camp!
4-day session, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. - Noon
Location: Northwest Campus
Dates: June 17-20
Cost: $169
Campers learn basic care for dogs and cats, including behavior recognition, first aid and CPR, as well as preventive medicine, exercise needs and toxicology. Additionally, campers explore radiology, microscope viewing and analysis of bodily fluids, and an introduction to veterinary surgery.
NOTE: A live-animal presentation is included in this camp.
